10 Easy Tips to Upgrade Your Holiday Charcuterie Board

What is equal parts appetizer, centerpiece, and a conversation starter? You guessed it, a Holiday inspired cheese board. Whether you’re hosting a cozy night in, entertaining family, or bringing a dish to a festive gathering, a cheese board instantly sets the tone. From seasonal flavors and warm textures to pops of festive color, a well curated board is an effortless way to impress your guests without spending hours in the kitchen.I’m sharing my favorite tips for creating a holiday inspired cheese board that feels festive, elevated, and completely doable, no matter your hosting style.

1. Cheesy Texture

Not sure where to begin when selecting cheeses for your board? Be sure to include a variety of textures. I like to lean on incorporating one soft (brie), one semi-soft (Havarti or Gruyère), one hard (aged cheddar or manchego), and one bold (goat cheese).

2. Festive Color Palette

Think reds, greens, whites, and golds with pops of cranberries, rosemary, and pomegranate.

3. Seasonal Fruit

Fresh pears, blueberries, blackberries, cranberries, figs, grapes, apple slices, or dried oranges feel cozy and holiday appropriate.

4. Holiday Herbs

Use fresh herbs as decor for your festive cheese board. Tuck sprigs of rosemary, thyme, or sage between items for greenery and a wintery look.

5. This Side of the Nut House

I am probably the biggest fan of Marcona Almonds. If you know me, then you know these are a must-have on my cheeseboards all year long. Other crunchy nuts that add flair to a holiday cheese board include candied pecans, spiced walnuts, or honey roasted almonds add crunch and warmth.

6. Sweet Bites

Support those savory and sweet taste buds by including a small variety of sweet treats on your holiday board. Decadent treats like dark chocolate squares, chocolate covered pretzels, yogurt covered pretzels, or mini cookies all work well. They are also always a hit with the little ones at the holiday party.

7. Drizzle, Drizzle

Fig jam, cranberry chutney, hot honey, or my personal favorite, a light balsamic glaze makes the board feel elevated and intentional.

8. Vary Heights and Shapes

Fold meats into trending designs, create a meat rose, stack crackers, cube cheeses, and fan fruit to create visual interest.

9. Cozy Flavors

Lean into cinnamon, clove, maple, vanilla, and honey. Subtly evoke those holiday vibes.

10. Finish with Flair

Round out your festive cheeseboard with a piece of Holiday flair. I personally like to use a cookie cutter to outline a shape on top of a wheel of brie and fill it with a tasty jam or fruit.
